Employment - Detail

08/16 - present: Excellence Logging - Data and Consulting Service Line Manager

Mr. Herkommer continues his work on real-time pore pressure surveillance to miniminze drilling risk and non-productive time. He develops tools for mining real-time data streams for the warning signs of impending well control issues. These indicators are used to update pre-drill and real-time pore pressure models. Mr. Herkommer's responsibilities include new product development in real-time drilling geomechanics and technology integration.

7/09 - 11/15: Schlumberger - Geomechanics Domain Head

After the successful development of three Geopressure Technology Centers (Houston, Paris, and Kuala Lumpur) Mr. Herkommer was repositioned as Geoservices' Geomechanics Domain Head. In this role he developed technology integration plans to deploy the Schlumberger's Real-Time Drilling Geomechanics (RTDG) product offering. RTDG brings together real-time wellsite surveillance with RTO geomechanical surveillance.

7/09 - 11/15: Schlumberger - Director, Geopressure Technology Centers

Following the successful acquisition of Petrospec Technologies by Geoservices, Mr. Herkommer was appointed head of the Geoservices' PreVue service. He is the director of Geoservices' Geopressure Technology Center and the product champion for PreVue. PreVue is an internationally recognized pore pressure, fracture gradient, and wellbore stability surveillance service used the world over by national and integrated oil companies. Mr. Herkommer managed a technical team of 80 field engineers and 3 interpretation supervisors who use EquiPoise software to perform their duties. Geoservices, the world's largest mud logging company, was acquired by Schlumberger in April, 2010. The PreVue line continues and is growing and is an integral part of Schlumberger's oil field services portfolio.

3/89 - 7/09: Petrospec Technologies (now Geoservices, A Schlumberger Company), President / CEO

Mr. Herkommer designed, coded, and successfully introduced to market several software packages including EquiPoise - Geopressure Analysis and Detection Software, GeoPressure Estimation Software (GPES), pQube 3D - Pore Pressure from Seismic, CoQube Coherency Analysis, Data Capture Software (DCS), and Mistie. These geology and drilling engineering data analysis programs were implemented on Intel, Sparc and VAXStation workstations using C/C++ for MS-Windows, Motif and VAX UIS graphics. Responsible for managing a group of 14 programmers on these projects.

Technical consulting projects included web page design using HTML and JavaScript, Y2K project design and coding, applications of geological and geophysical data processing techniques, map projection digitizing, pore pressure and fracture gradient prediction. Also developed petrophysical database specifications using information engineering/CASE for Recall, Ingres, and Oracle Database systems.

Clients include Geoservices, Amoco Production Company, ARCO, Mobil Oil Co., Petroleum Computing, Occidental International Exploration and Production Company, Chevron Producing Services Inc., Zales Corporation, Weinman and Associates, Government of Canada, and others.

6/97 - 3/99: Richland College, Continuing Education Instructor

Taught beginning and advanced C/C++ classes in the Microcomputer Continuing Education Department on a part-time basis.

2/87 - 3/89: Petroleum Computing (now Jason, A CGG Company), Vice President, Software Development

Successfully managed and coded large-scale petrophysical data analysis software (PCI-LAS) in Intel x86 and MicroVAX workstation environments. Ported numerous MS-DOS applications from the VAX VMS environment. Developed a device independent graphics and hardcopy subsystem. Clients included Mobil Oil Co., Shell Oil Co., Sun Production Co., and others. Prepared work schedules for programming staff; managed productivity.

7/84 - 2/87: Placid Oil Company, Manager of Mapping and Image Processing

Drafted specifications, scheduled work for staff, and developed a mini/microcomputer based geoscientific workstation and database that integrated many aspects of geological data analysis including base mapping and contouring. Used as the Placid's standard mapping system.
